Anyone struggling to catch a target species this year?

Zander are still my personal nemesis.

 

With your liking for lure fishing, I had just assumed Zander would be one of the species that you would be fishing on a regular basis. I should have picked up from your signature that you had not been after them recently.

Although I did catch 2x this past weekend but prior to that nothing all year. Simply frustrating. Bubbles but nothing........

Im aiming at a 8lb fish this year (maybe a bit optimistic as im fishing matches all the time )

Ive had a couple in matches up to 3lb so far

I think my best bet is if i get the chance to go to wingham as this will probably be one of my only pleasure fishes .

Im gonna struggle this year with my normal crucian catches as my local (300 yards away) lake that i practice on in the summer evenings has been sold to someone who is shutting it off to the public

Still happy with my 9lb 11oz bream this year and wont be looking to better that for a while

Most of my summer lure fishing is on the middle Severn within about 5km of Bewdley. I've been down on the lower Severn and Avon a few times with the predictable mix of jigs, deep divers and spinnerbaits and have had some nice pike and big perch but the zander just haven't come out to play. I know there's fish present in the middle Severn because one came out at Arley a couple of years back so it's suprising that I've not fluked one when after something else but this year I'm going to be spending a fair bit of time fishing the navigable sections of the Severn so we'll see what turns up.
