Strangely enough, I just ordered a pack of these.

It's probably a bit late in the year to be planting them and I suspect that that is why they're cheap but 15 to a tenner was a bargain.

Not ordered for the pussies though.

We had a kitten which died after eating petals from a lily. Came in a bouquet of flowers, and we didn't know the danger. It causes the animal's kidneys to fail. All the vet can do is give supportive treatment and hope that there is enough kidney function left for it to pull through. Meanwhile, the levels of metabolic waste in the animal's blood continue to rise and the animal gets sicker.

It took most of a week before the vet told us that the kitten had started to show evidence of permanent brain damage caused by the build up of waste, and that it was best to put it down. Never an easy decision, but there was no hope. My Mrs was inconsolable.

Not a pleasant death - I think anyone who would inflict that on an animal deliberately wants putting down themselves, to be honest.

Death by amatoxin poisoning would be a fitting method.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Alot of anti cat sentiments here lol.

I have a Korat (thai fighting cat) who has yet to destroy any local wildlife and actually comes back to use his litter tray in the utility room (much to my chagrin). Cats are as mentioned before a free roaming creature and not subject to any control, however there are a few ways to keep them out of the garden without shooting them with anything or causing them any harm. Cheap aftershave at nose height on posts will make them think there is something bigger and scarier around (hai karate will actually keep cats away as well as women) it is possible to get lion dung as well which has the same effect. also you could try something one of my neighbours did to a local cat that was frequenting his back garden, he caught it rubbed mustard on its ar5e and set it off on its way. It was probably the funniest thing i ever saw it wandered off like it was on stilts then every time it stopped to lick itself it was shaking its head too. Never came back mind
