Wingham's going potty!

I've already started a toipic giving the background about my bag of tench including a 10-04 and a 9-02. See http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/10-04-t...m-t3145968.html. But others are getting in on the act too.

Malcolm Harmer, he of the recent mega brace of bream, had 17 tench including 3 nine pounders, topped by a PB brace of 9-12 each.

Another member had had a catch topped by 2 nines - 9-09 and 9-10, both PBs again.

And as I left someone who posts here had just had three perch, one over 2lbs, the others over 3lbs.

It seems that this change from a long spell of ENE winds and typical highs of 11C has really turned the fish on.

Let's hope it doesn't change for the Fish-In in a fortnight!

Hi Steve,

Well done on your double :clap2::clap: . Would I be right in saying that this is the first double figure tench from Wingham this year?

I'm getting so excited about the Fish-in now and have been looking at the arial photo's today wondering where I will be fishing for those giant tench and bream this year :D .

Keep the reports coming please.

Yes, although we've had a number of big nines.

The Wingham record is still 10-06, but I don't expect it to be that for long!

Me too, it's going to be frustrating getting through the next few days waiting until I can go :D but it can't be as frustrating as it will be for those waiting to see if they can go to the AN Fish-In.

Congratulations again Steve - very nicely done! :)

PS for the benefit of fish-in guests, I had a dozen or so tench to 8.14 plus perch of 2.04, 2.09, 3.01 and 3.07, but no bream despite very good conditions. Wrong place again! But I thought you may be interested in the perch (the tench were small fry compared to what else was caught at the weekend!). The first one was an accident on fake maggots and bolt rig intended for bream but after that I swapped to a running lead and real maggots and had the others. They looked big on the mat, but enormous as they skulked back into the depths through the clear water in the margins, quite a sight. I'd forgotten how hard the Wingham perch fight, ripping line off the clutch like 7lb tench :)

So make sure you have maggots and lobs!

Those perch sound great, did you catch them at range or close in, just curious as I always think of perch as being nearer to the margins ?
