IE9 problems

Recommended Posts

IE9 seems to be a strange beast. I have the compatibility icon that Newt showed. I will try it when I next power up the desktop. I tried the cookie approach to no avail. On both XP and Windows 7 I frequently have to refresh the browser to get rid of the unread posts icon. I will also try Chrome to see if things change (improve)

IE9 is a bug ridden piece of garbage.

I removed it from all my systems after advice from Microsoft...the same people peddling it...lol.

Try this link to revert back to IE8.

I don't use IE much these days (preferring firefox or chrome) but performance aside, do bear in mind that IE9 is less vulnerable to attacks than IE8 so if you normally use IE, it might be worth tweaking it until it works to your liking even if that takes some time and effort.

I'm not sure if it is an OS thing but I've had few problems or bugs using it on Win7. It may not play so nice with XP or Vista.

Steve, that compatibility icon should have been on any IE version from 7 through 9. Unlike running an application in compatibility mode which is altogether a different thing, it simply causes your version of IE to imitate an older version on whatever site you choose by clicking it. I've had to run that way on AN since IE7 to make things behave since I think this board software isn't updated as often as it might be.

Many thanks for all your help. I'm tied up with the Wingham Fish-In at present but hopefully will sort everything out when it's all over.
