Could I make an observation here? When you weigh your Eels, put them in a carrier bag, this will save a lot of the slime being rubbed off.

The Eels need that slime.

Elton, Are you bringing rabbit-fencing to go round the bivvy this year, or has Steve sorted the rabbits out?

That won't stop them, Rabbits can soon dig under a fence especialy if some one empties a sack of carrots within the enclosure in the middle of the night.

But what are the chances of that happening :whistling:

Me and bruv have been brushing up on our rabbit wrangling skills! Poor old Eltons going to have a 'mare this year on the Carp Pond! I considererd bringing Cosworth to protect him while he slept but my stupid mutt would most likely be just as scared of the rabbits as he is! Got this kind of Scooby Doo and Shaggy cuddling together in fright picture going on in my head! :headhurt:

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Been meaning to comment on this for some time. Den is totally right.Carrier bags (I like the ones you get from clothes shops with the hard plastic handle along the top that you can also pop together) are far more eel friendly than slings....and not so difficult to clean afterwards!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Would you recommend carriers for any other fish? I've just started using scales on occasion and had a near miss with a small carp (I just got the scales ok! I was playing...) and it twisted out of the sling. Was lucky it went straight onto the water but now its got me paranoid, don't want to hurt a fish in any way, let alone have it flapping around on the grass/mud/gravel/boards.

Or is it just too small a fish to bother weighing?
