Smelly Washing Machine.

Recommended Posts

I am in need of advice.

I have a Washing Machine which is about 3 years old which for some reason has developed an awful musty smell, even after use.

The machine is used daily and yet smells like damp clothes which have been left for days.

Indeed washed clothes cannot be left inside for more than 10 minutes or they too absorb the smell.

The smell is so bad that if I leave the Washer door open the smell can be detected in the kitchen.

I have tried all the usual things.

Oust washer cleaner, bleach, disinfectant, boil washes to no avail.

Anyone have an idea?

I'm no expert, but the first thing I would do would be to dry it out fully outside on a sunny day, and pop the back/side off and see if there is any obvious reason, such as a build up of gunk sitting somewhere.

I'd also make sure that the waste pipe is thoroughly cleaned through and check that waste water is getting flushed away properly.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

Without knowing much about washing machines, it sounds as though the drum may have developed a slow leak which is trapping water in the space below it.

Or is it possible that a partly-blocked outflow is "blowing back" into the machine?

Quite what you do about it if it *is* either of these possibilities, I don't know - I'd contact either the manufacturer or the place you bought it from first, and/or a plumber, if you can find one!

I believe the problem of smelly washing machines is due to the fact the washes are done at such low temperatures.Bacteria are not killed off at these low temps and sit and fester in the residual water left in the machine. A simple solution is to do a wash with just a good dose of bleach and run it at the highest temp that the machine does. Do this once a week and all should be solved. ( Removes bacteriologists head off shoulders. )

Have you checked that the pump filter is clear, have you ever cleaned it? I go to a fair few rentals, to be told the washer or the washer dryer has packed up, can't open the door, can't close the door, the lights on the machines are going crazy, won't wash or dry, etc, etc, most times there is a pong as well as not functioning correctly, most times, it's the pump filter blocked or semi blocked with coins, hair grips, shirt coller stiffners, bits and pieces of cloth. that holds some water back or doesn't even pump out in the worst cases, witch upsets the programme cycle and it starts to pong.

Have a look and let me know. :)

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..
