Apart from the problem already mentioned by rickster, I tend to favour a front drag reel. I find it easier to adjust the tension when playing a fish than with a rear drag version.

Front drag are more reliable and have better sensitivity than rear drag. I use both put prefer rear drag to use as I fing this easier to adjust. When targeting big fish I will use front drag all the time.

I prefere rear rear drag as on some new reels there is the "fightin drag" feature which offers an instant adjustment instead of fiddling with a front drag. I,ve just got a :) shimano sahara with this on and it is the mutts nutts.

Just to be cussed I'll suggest the ABU Centre Drag Reels :D . But having used all three systems, non of which have ever caused me any real grief, I do prefer the Centre Drag as a tool for fishing, although I dearly enjoy using my Mitchell 300x reels with their front drag.
