lead shot

Lead shot is illegal to use on any British waterway.

I thought that lead shot was no longer manufactured nowadays. But it will tell you on the box/case if it is non-toxic.

Simple. If in doubt, don't use it! And don't chuck it out either. Your local tackle shop will know how to dispose ofd it safely. Modern Tungsten shot is pretty cheap.

You can usually tell by breaking open the casing and looking at the pellets. They score rather easy. If it isn't lead you'll know for sure. On the casing you should find writing which tells you what size/lead or steel but these were bought in the states. If it's a certain brand like Remington or Winchester they also vary in color. Hope this helps.

They still manufacture lead cartridges that you can buy in the states. Depending on what you are hunting. Steel shot is much more expensive than lead but it is also illegal to use lead for waterfowl. Anything other than waterfowl is fair game. With the proper license... :D

Just get a knife out of your kitchen drawer, put one of the shot on the chopping board and try to cut it, if it`s lead it will cut quite easily and will be shiny inside
