White Loch - anyone fished it(big pike)

Have a static caravan Mull of Galloway. Normally target the sea fish but thinking of trying freshwater for a change. Have been told by a local that White Loch, just a few miles from the Isle of Whithorn is worth a shot.

Alledgedly holds large pike, perch and carp of some description!

Anyone fished it? permits from? cost?

Try Whitefield Loch. Think this is the one! 60acres and they have netted out perch to 4.5 lbs

I have tried it on a very hot day middle of summer caught a lot of small perch very easily on worm.

Get the impression that it could be very good for pike but anglers tend to head for the more famous lochs eg. loch Ken.

I intend to give it a proper try for pike next spring.

A bad days fishing is better than a good day at the office. Tight lines all.

Great Peter pleased someone on the forum has fished it. Where do you get the permits from and how much?

Can you post up any results or give me a PM,I will do the same.

One of my mates in Drummore heard of a 26 lb fish coming out of it this year.

Tight lines mate

Bought the permit at Glenluce village the hotel and a newsagents shop both sell permits wasnt expensive , no more than £5.

Nb i got info from the "net" after doing some searches, local angling club have done work on stances etc and details re permits etc are available. Going fishing now but will try to get more info for you soon.

So I am not really a coarse guy so is a 4.5lb perch just a good fish or a specimin?(spelling cos I am full of drink)

Anyone watching Sir Paul on sky earlier today - pike on the fly!

Intend to try it at this loch next year. And by the way what is thecurrent perch record,

Did you see the lures Paul was using? pick up my thread on the sea angling forum "snatchers lures" and fasten your seatbelts!

ps my lures are better - the eyes are not painted on -the pupils move!
