I'd also like to say I hope Andrew doesn't stop posting, his posts are always great and interesting to read..... plus I get to see pictures of massive fish which makes me feel like a crap angler :-). The same goes to you Rich, hopefully you'll post more often again at some point :-)

 

Very true, the likes of Anderoo and Rich are the heart blood of any forum and it would be a much poorer place with out them.

I am not sure where you get these ideas from, I think to have caught 3 Bream from Wingham he is doing very well. Andrew has already covered what makes fishing the likes of Wingham so hard and I think at times it is difficult to get your head around what is considered successful at such venues.

 

I think to get one fish from such waters is doing well but you can always be left with the feeling there may have been an element of luck involved but if you can repeat that and catch more over a given period of time then that person obviously knows what they are doing.

 

Out of interest what qualifies as having "real" Bream experience?

Fishing for bags of bream on waters that hold plenty of fish. Not the Wingham, LSD waters, I've caught a big bream doing this so this is how it should be done thing.

 

The fact is that if you spod ground bait out and there is any movement in the water it will drift. If you mix it soft so it breaks up on the way down, on a windy day it can/will drift a long long way. That's why no matter how good with a spod you think you are, it is impossible to bait consistently accurately like this. If you fish into the wind as a lot of bream anglers do, it will most often give you line bites.

 

I'm not the best bream angler in the world and i don't match fish, but then getting your bait down accurately is just bream fishing basics really. Sadly some never get even the basics right.

I don't think any one who fishes for the Bream at Wingham claim that the way they fish is the way it should be done. It's just the way they choose to fish, if it's different to the way you fish so what? Just because some one is fishing for LSD Bream does not mean that they do not have plenty of experience of catching big bags of Bream. Wingham has some very good anglers in the syndicate and that includes Anderoo and I think his Bream catches show that and so I don't see why he should justify his Bream credentials to anyone and I think most on AN are pleased that he chooses to share his fishing experiences and knowledge with the forum.

 

I kind of get it when members get criticised for maybe fishing in an unsafe way but can't get my head around why some one would get so put out by some one just fishing differently especially as the way they fish is successful. Forums are designed to share idea's, I just don't understand why Anderoo's Bream fishing winds you up so much.

Now most of that makes sense apart from the line bites.

 

If the wind is blowing at you like most of us like to fish in the warmer months for bream espescially the tow is going away from you pretty hard.

 

If you spod in the upper layers the water going away from you below that could equal the water coming towards you in the upper layers.

 

The line bites occur if you are fishing beyond the feeding fish I guess.

 

I still prefer to use a heavy groundbait mix to get particle down but do like spodding aswell. Maybe I should reappraise my spodding and general feeding.

I don’t think it is ever that simple. Yes the surface water will follow the wind, but how it go’s back and the direction it takes will depend on lots of different things like the angle the wind is hitting the bank, the shape of the lake, the bottom contours , if there are sheltered areas, how much and how long its been blowing, ....................

 

Personally i believe fishing into the wind away from the bank at range on most lakes there will be a lot of lower layers of water that don't move much at all. I think it finds roots of least resistance to return and concentrates in them areas and doesn't return evenly all over.

lol im only 400 posts in and felt like this many, many times over already, mainly due to the carp bashing. Ive learnt to get over it quick or there would be a few fist imprints in the monitor by now. Theres a few people on here that really grate on me so now i just humour them, i know sometimes easier said than done but you would be sadly missed otherwise!

Yeh, come on, make 'em face the music.... B)

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!
