Fen fishing Social

If I find a suitable location on a Fen drain, how many of you would like a sociable fish & meet day? Just a provisional question for now. Why the Fens, no boats on the drains, easy access & we can all fit along the bank. No match just a social, well maybe a small cost for a BBQ if weather holds ok.

So what do you think??? Should be a laugh & a chasnce for a real chat, doing what we all love........

Fishing is the most peaceful & solitary group activity a going. Every watewr is different every day, thanks for that as same would be boring....

I'm in, pending the date. Not too bothered by a BBQ myself mind but a nice idea.

Would be awesome if someone could show me how to tackle and catch a Zander...

Possible location. I have been scouring googgle earth & will look into the 'Sixteen foot drain' just north of Stonea bridge, as far as I can see this offers the best bankside parking. Have emailed the EA, to ask for details on public waters to avoid paying day tickets on the day, hopefully the `16 is free. ( not meaning to sound tight, but it would be nicer)

RR I wouldn't mind learning that as well. Never seen a Zed up close yet, hope to change that.

Sounds like a great idea, not sure if I could make it but if there is a chance of some night fishing for Zeds I might be able to clear the diary.

But whether I can go or not, it's a nice idea and I hope it gets off the ground

I would be up for a bit of Zedding if you can find some where we can night fish without having to get a season tiocket.

The KLAA do night tickets on the bank this year but they are £10. There yearly river ticket is only £36 so represents better value.

Renrag,

Zander? (we call them walleye). So you will be ready search "bottom bouncer". If I had just one it would probably be 4". You'll have to determine the ounce weight as I have no idea the amount of current you'll be facing. No more than maybe 3/4 oz. You will need a couple nightcrawlers (lobworms?). Retrieve as slowly as your nerves will allow. That's it, piece of cake! Don't look the first one in the eye, it will jinx further captures that day.
