Is anyone likely to be going who would be willing to help out with predator fishing? I have fished for Pike and handled them before but I've never fished for Zander before and would not be sure or where to cast, how to fish etc. I would love to try for a Zander and maybe have some fun with some Pike.

Any one know a Sat Nav code for the area?

Good question so here are the answers (print as neccessary) :-

From the north & midlands head to King's Lynn, Norfolk at junc A17 & A47 roundabout, take 3rd exit &

From the south follow either A10 to Kings Lynn & then A47 peterborough or just A47 Peterborough to same roundabout & take 1st exit.

1. Head southwest on Pullover Rd/A47 1.4 mi

( from Wisbeach direction take the turn below off the A47)

2. Turn left toward Eau Brink Rd 0.2 mi

3. Continue straight onto Eau Brink Rd 2.4 mi

4. Turn right onto Sluice Rd 0.7 mi

5. Take the 3rd left onto Common Rd 0.7 mi

6. Take the 1st left onto Peter's Drove 305 ft

7. Parking just before bridge on right..

Thats according to google earth. Hope that is the route answer as can't find a sat nav code for it.

Fishing is the most peaceful & solitary group activity a going. Every watewr is different every day, thanks for that as same would be boring....

Due to the travelling I should imagine most of us will want to fish the whole weekend. Would this cause any problem?

I know the stretch in question and allthough maybe not the best choice for catching a "first ever Zander" its a good choice for a social/fish in. We actually had a AN fish in/teach in there a few years back if Im not mistaken.

A word of guidance though, It is VERY easy to miss Peters Drove as it starts as a very rough looking track and isnt/wasnt last time sign posted. Also the locals will look at you blankly if you ask where it is! Might be worth me getting there a bit early and sticking up a sign for the turning.

That said Sat Nav,AA/RAC Route Finder,Google Maps etc will take you there its just that most will drive past the Drove not realising its the right one!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Is there any chance you would be able to give some of us a rough idea of what tackle we need if we are fishing for Zander and Pike, most of my pike fishing has been done with float fishing but assuming I fish for Zander/Pike by ledgering what would sort of tackle would you use?

Yes of course I will.Im away this weekend and as such a bit busy today but will gladly put something up in a bit more detail on Monday.

Basically though bring your pike gear but make up some traces with size 8 trebles rather than 6 or larger as to give a better chance at a "first Zed" smaller baits will be better. 12-15lb line is fine but try and get a nice fine wire of at least 15lb. I use slightly different set ups for Zeds than Pike but both will catch both! if you see what I mean!

Bait wise then you will need to bring gear and bait to catch roach whilst there.Regardless of whether you want to fish deads or livebaits you will still need to catch fresh.Zeds unlike Pike just ain't that into sea deads or even frozen course ones.I prefer live baiting for them but still use at least one rod on deads but this will allways be a freshly killed one not frozen. It does make a difference. The only frozen dead that is even worth a go in my experience is eel section (all though not really politically correct with them being so scarce).

I will give more details on rigs etc on Monday so you know what extra tackle you might need to get.

On the Saturday I'm happy enough to do a quick "Teach in" on both Pike and Zeds if any one is interested.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Hopefully I will be able to make it as long as my brother does not choose that week end for his stag weekend I should be able to go. I already had the Friday afternoon booked off for a weekend fishing at a Pit. So my other half already knows I'm due to be away fishing that week end, so can just change the venue.

But like Budgie mentioned it would be good if we could fish an extra night due to the distance but I always thought that you had to be a KLAA member to night fish and so I guess we are doing well to be be able to fish the one night thanks to all the work done by Norfolkdipper
