I'll be adding an article by Jim Gibbinson on his 8 favourite tench baits later today. Before I do, let's hear your favourites and see if they match.

Tight lines,

For what it's worth, I caught my first tench recently using maggots over a cocktail of sweetcorn, castors and hemp.

It was worth a lot to me - I had 3 tench up to about 1lb (the largest in that water being just over 1lb) in the space of 2 hours.

I can't wait to have another go.

Corn, meat/bread paste or small (10-15mm) boilies are my choice for tench. The meat/bread paste is bread and spam mashed together sometimes with a dash of worcestershire sauce (usually because that is my favourite butty to take fishing).

Most effective Tench baits for me..... cockles, luncheon meat, bread flake, and worms. Best method would be freelined, as least on the lakes I fish. I'll look forwards to this article as Tench are one of my favourite species.

Paulg
