Pete (Jones), sorry I should have made it clear my post was in reply to Peter Wallers's rather than yours. I was just trying to save space and this topic is already a long one. You've made some interesting points; I'd only take issue with you on one thing - I'm Steve, not Mr. Burke! smile.gif

May I suggest that someone in the know writes an article outlining all of these various groups, their aims and who they are affiliated to. This is all sooooo confusing...

Bob, if you have a look back through this and some of the other postings all will be revealed (as it has many times before). DCB in fact did a good synopsis recently.

Peter, as mentioned before, if people don;t read the angling press or otherwise gain access to what is going on, how else can they be informed. In fact come to think of it I don't see 'the uninformed' complaining.

With respect

Alan.

Poledark, see the last posting on page 4 of this thread posted by DCB 2nd April. This may help you and others with understanding what the NAA and angling unity is about.

Alan.

Steady on - you done good.

I thought I would try and explain why I'm actively involved with angling politics.

You will note, ANGLING, not specialist, not match, not trout, not sea, et al.

Angling.

It is important to note that probably 95% of anglers don't pursue any particular specialist area. They just go fishing. but, they are the lifeblood of the sport. They are the future no matter what your particular interest may be.

I believe that when angling's leaders act it should be with all aspects of the sport in mind. The Ivory Tower crap has no future - its devisive. it divides the sport and buggers up the unified approach.

As the Director, Conservation and Environment for the Angling Trade Association (unpaid) it is my job to protect and promote all of angling, not just the trade.

I believe that we are all involved in the ultimate sport and should act accordingly

Professionalism is not a job its a state of mind.

I take no notice of those who stand on the outside **** in. Commit to the cause of unity and you'll get my time.

Don't get on your high, arrogant horse and demand to join the NAA direct. Its not on. Join and influence a constituent member of the Alliance. The choice is yours. The power of angling is in the grass roots pushing up, voting in the people they need. If the current leaders are on a power crazed ego trip or don't function to the benefit of the sport vote them out. The choice is yours. Don't come whinging to me if they don't perform. Its in your hands. Don't criticise your leaders if you don't have a better replacement.

I can't wait to get voted out so I can do some more fishing.

Over to you on the ether.
