Sportsman:

I sometimes wonder if I am reading the same posts as everyone else! I am afraid I missed the "whiff" of defeat and Alan, after your criticism of others spelling you really should be more careful, it could come across as shoddy!!

From an 'online dictionary':

" - whiff

perceive by inhaling through the nose; the whiff of perfume" - in Argyll's case somewhat rancid.

I was simply making the point that he is asking of others for something he refuses to deliver himself. He accused me of getting the Fearon issue wrong, simply because the BBC backed down. But his premise was wrong - and I demonstrated it.

Now if that he has been wrong in the past, where's the mileage in believing his assertions now or in the future until he can admit to having been wrong?

I suggest that the accusation of shoddiness should be directed elsewhere in this instance. I am quite capable of understanding when I am wrong and acknowledge it freely - quite unlike Argyll it seems. It must be great to be a paragon of perfection. Although I doubt he'll understand the sarcasm there.

slodger:

That's not sounding like a debate anymore Alan, more like a personal vendetta. :(

It's not a personal vendetta, but you can't debate with someone who seems pathologically incapable of being wrong about something - yet adamant that others should agree with them, inspite of their dubious premise.
