Trout Fishing in Wales.

Recently spent three days with a fishing mate in Wales. We went to Puddleduck Fishery by Haverfordwest and did C&R for £10 morning session. When the fish were hooked it was like trying to hold on to a train, they really fight well, and it is well stocked. When fish are taken they restock with the same size. The next day we fished Whitehouse Mill Fishery outside Whitland, needless to say it poured down somewhat. We did the £15 for three fish ticket as they do not do C&R.Again the fishing was superb, platforms to cast off and shelters around the lake to dry off.The fish tend to remain in shoals so if you can cast far enough then watch out.Our final visit was to Ricketts Mill by Meidrim in Carmarthenshire.Small lake in very open valley with an adjacent even smaller one.Dont let that put you off.The fishing is very well worth it.There are rainbows and browns rising feely and trying to fly.We did the £15 catch and kill one and C&R five.We all caught our kill fish, but then hooked but lost loads during the battles with very hard fighting fish,it is a Troutmasters venue. There is a hut with free tea and coffee and the usual forms. There is a dye marked rainbow in the lake and for an extra £1 you can hope to catch it,the kitty was at £60 .Needless to say we didnt catch it.

Unfortunately we were told that some venues down there had blue green algae so check before you travel any distance to avoid disappointment.
