Elton please, please please can you incorporate a spellchecker as my head is reeling trying to decipher.

Oh and btw is it just me or does it annoy other people when they see capitals in sentences or even names.

Rant over.

John.

I am not the worlds best at using English grammer correctly, but the one that pee's me off in the last couple of years is the use of (and) and (but) to start new sentences and paragraphs.

The reason for this is that people are typing stuff up on PC's and then using an American grammer checker or not checking at all.

People are relying to much on PC's etc and not using their brains anymore.

I am guilty of using capital I's in sentences, it is just a habit that I have, sorry.

Chris,

Is it not correct grammar to use a capital "I" when refering to ones self ?

If this is not the case one shall not use this. smile.gif

Del (one does not think, therefore one is not !)

But...

speaking personally, the reason I do it (and I do), is because I've never understood why you shouldn't! (I don't use a spell checker as a rule - makes you lazy - and I've NEVER let a machine lecture me on grammar!)

To me, if what's written reflects how I speak (and rough Geordie though I am, I'm surprisingly literate!), then it's OK - after all writing IS the documentation of thought and/or speech.

People DO start sentences with "and" or "but" in speech, so I feel justified in doing it in writing.

Not your usual fishing thread this one, is it? smile.gif
