Otter friend or foe

cannibalspinners

Recommended Posts

Well over 100 posts & we are no further forward than we were on day 1

Here perhaps is a reason why

Post # 6 We will have to cull I reckon,

Post #115 In truth I guess I would rather have the Otter and perhaps our rivers go back to a more balanced feel

Progress ? Well, I thought so at the time, but no......

Post 159 my thoughts are that such a large predator will have to extend it's boundries to survive, once the rivers are emptied.

Post 170 Otter and the 'success' of the breeding numbers has taken everyone by surprise, and perhaps difficult solutions have to be found to quell it's numbers

Post 180 no one to-day still know the dynamics of the Otter if left unchecked

So as you say, cannibal, back to square one

...and this really takes the biscuit

Post 181 Oh I don't know, I am sure I have converted a few , but they would never admit it

To maintain a credible argument, let alone to "convert" anyone, it helps enormously if you can remember what you said last week.

but we do know the dynamics of unchecked otters

its good rivers with fish and otters ,

how much of the millions of years they were unchecked do you need?

So you (and several others, and I) have said before Dave, but it is useless quoting millions of years to someone who can't remember last week's posts. :)

Next week - The Scourge of the Fish Eagles !!! You read it here first.:angry:

Does anyone know how much otters can weigh

Someone said in an earlier post they eat a fair bit of fish everyday

Maybe they do more harm to fish stocks by eating the small ones

& not so much the big healthy adults

it may be a case of

If there is No small fish then there will be no adult fish

One day

what came first Chicken or the Egg

My point is

do otters do more harm eating mature fish

or young fish ,

Not getting my point across very well I KNOW :wallbash:

You asked and got an answer to that question two days ago.
