Yo Nick,

How about we start up a thread of surreal email messages like we used to via snail-mail, could be fun and it will get them all thinking at AN???

Hope you are well and catching, good luck with the stints you have planned.

Best,

Bolt rigs? Takes all the skill away if you ask me. It's one of the reasons I gave up carp fishing, it just makes things too easy.

There is that about it.

I think that the missed run problem it one that will never go away, and one that bolt rigs dont cure anyway

Yo Tony,

Will see how the new venue goes and keep you all posted, coulf be a good one for an NAC fish-in if successful. The commoness of the 5's could well be an old wives tale but it comes from a reliable source.

Now back in WW2, no, stop it.

Bolt rigs for eels, I have considered this but abandoned it after thinking of seeing Annies with torn mouths, they do take rather ferociously at times! Wouldn't you agree.

My perception and I know I've said it previously is that you will have several fish in your vacinity that will keep having a go.

If you hook them first run ok, if not I'm sure they quickly wise-up and get all clever.

I've had a few nights where runs are prolific, slowly but surely I hook them by adjusting this and that. Then all goes quiet as I've got them all in the nets.

A few hours may pass then another eel or two moves in and starts the process again. It's probably different on other waters, but in my experience on lakes, ponds rivers and canals this is the pattern.

Any offers...

Best, Stevie (Snigger) Ormrod.

Steve`o

I think that is bang on about the eels in a swim, Phil and I were thinking on them lines last couple of years (I think we may have spoke about it with you?) If not sorry!

We noticed that on the canal we would get a run on the left hand rod (mine say) and then my middle then the right, then phils left then middle then right. all would go quiet then the same in revearse an hour or so later, We went so far as to think the eels may be feeding in a "pack" like Zander.

Do any of you think this feasable.

eg In age / size as they did seem to be in the same "stamp".

Seems strange that the runs (on more then one occasion) came in that pattern sometimes 2>3 runs within 5 minutes.

Tony,

Yeah, you have a point about the pack theory. I can remember several occasions where I catch a bunch of high 2's. There's a few occasions where a brace of low 3's makes up the catch. Bigger fish (4+) tend to come out the blue, no pattern.

Hmmmmm!

Best,

Steve O

I am game, I bet the lady in the lake would love to make a comeback. Those pack of eels you lads are on about are a regular occurance round by me, just about all the tackle shops sell them and usualy they are all the same size. Still I suppose we have to expect and put up with it. How do you think the Specialist Smelt,Makeral,Sprat and Lampray boys feel, Let alone the poor still water Barbel lads.

For those of you who don@t know me sorry about my sense of humour but its not done to upset. Steve I need a starter on the surreal stuff as I have forgot it all in the past year or so due to extreem stress from my old mate Eric T who remembers more about me than I do.

See ya all Nick

D,B,I,I,

PS Makeral are the same as Mackerel, only from B,ham

Ah Nick,

The fish hath risen to the bait methinks...

Myrtle is doing fine thanks, she tore her skirt on a wacky outing the other day. Problem is she can't find any medieval sewers to put it to rights, any suggestions?

You guys still live in the dark ages down there, we've still got some catching up to do

once the Romans bugger off.

Talking about Myrtle, I bumped into a good friend of hers the other day, her name is Ophelia (nice dress) I was lure fishing and tagged her petticoat, not a very nice sight, she must have been down there for centuries!

In Madchester Mackerel spelt 'run city' up until the F&M outbreak, now all they do is shiver in my freezer. Let us know how your forays go (in surreal terms) must get out myself soon, the water temps are rising rapidly.

Hopefully see you soon and not in cyberspace.

Best,
