Quite frankley I found it dissapointing, lots of trout fishing in the area though. Your best bets as I see it are:-

Bassenthwaite, permit from post office on Main Street.

Rydal water, permit from local Tourist Information Centre.

Or, advertised as "Specemin Pike", at Loughrigg Tarn, permit from Tarn Foot Farm.

Parking is a pig, be prepared to pay and walk, where ever you go.

Windermere as commercial as a seaside resort, YUCK.

I think the nearest tackle shop would be Norrits in Penrith, could be wrong though.

Hi mate,

there is another tackle shop, Carlsons in Kendal on the High Street. Coarse fishing is a bit rough up there but try the Windermere And Ambleside Website that will give you the best info. You can always drop back on the motorway and come off at Jn 35 (Carnforth) and try the British Waterways Borwick Water for shedfulls of Pasty carp and some bigger. This is about 25 minutes from Windermere.

had few pike in there and perch

perch respnded best to minnow livebait "now banned" i've had pike early doors from the boatyard in bowness on soft plastics, and had bigger from out on the boats (massive fish some of them) but you need to locate the dropp offs, whatever they do, best of luck, but windermere itself is not easy fishing.
