Hemp cooking right/wrong way!!!!!!!!!

I cook hemp in a bucket with a sealable lid. quick and easy with no mess or smells!

fill the bucket about 1/3 with seeds, cover the seeds with boiling water, you need at least 2 inches of water over the level of the seeds, and then seal the lid and leave overnight.

Next morning you'll have a bucket of perfectly cooked hemp ready to go straight to the bank.

Take it to the bank and use it direct from the bucket it was cooked in for best results - it stays soaking in all the oils released while cooking.

I know this was posted a while back now but does the Hemp still need to be pre-soaked when using this method?

Many thanx

Ive not done it this way myself, but i shouldn't think so. Might be a good idea not to let it cool down to quick, try putting a good coat round it.

I do mine in bulk, a mate in the catering supplies trade got me a "stewpot" that covers all the rings on the cooker. I put about 5k of dry hemp in , cover with plenty of water and soak for 1 to 2 days, more if I forget about it. I add a full tub (supermarket size) of bicarb, the same tub size scoop of sugar and about half a scoop of that tub of salt then boil it til it splits. If it doesn't catch fish it preserves the hemp very well for just about all season if stored in a bait fridge set to quite cold. If it starts to ferment in the bucket, all the better, the juice goes syruppy (such a word??) and works better IMHO

I bet cooking it in a slow cooker would be good and cheap on leccy.

Yes and i bet one of them big cool boxes would be good to.

Do you know if there are any limits as to how long Hemp can soak for and is the soak time for Large/Mega Hemp extended?

Why the need for soaking it? Unless you're soaking to use it raw, like you would tiger nuts, I guess. But the process of cooking it brings out more of the smells, flavours and oils. The soaking just seems like an unnecessary part of the job. I just cook it (adding nothing) until it splits, let it cool down in its own water, then transfer to a bait tub (with some of that water) and use the remaining liquid to mix up ground bait or bread crumb.

Another thread spotted in the logs. Still seems as popular as ever, so a quick bump to the top...
