GIVING UP FISHING?

Janet

Recommended Posts

Sorry to hear your lake has been spoiled by the carp Janet, some people just don't realise (or want to acknowledge) that a lot of people want to catch other species :( The shoulder injury affecting your fly-fishing isn't good either - hopefully it will recover now and let you do a bit of fluff-chucking again in the future.

I'm glad you're staying with us though, I've enjoyed reading your reports and/or rants ;)

Sussed it Janet, your a closet boat angler, come and have a go on the south coast, you'll never go back to puddle bashing.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Phone, it's not carp as such that is the problem, it's the carp obsession of many that is!

Janet, my great love is lure fishing, nothing beats it. When my right arm crocked I simply took to using my left one, simple!

Janet, I think our loss is that we won't be able to read any more of your fabulous reports about the work parties and organised events at your lake, the superb pictures really brought them to life. Our gain is that you're moving to rivers which, let's face it, is how it should be done anyway. You might even be able to buy a matching deerstalker/lucky knickers set.

I'm sorry to hear about how things have developed at your club venue particularly as you put so much effort into keeping it going.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

Phone, it's not carp as such that is the problem, it's the carp obsession of many that is!

I've said that so often, on here and other forums, but many fail to see it, and take it as a slight on their 'choice' of angling.

Janet, I'm sorry to hear your news, but to be honest I'm not that surprised. I've noticed the number of angling related posts by you has fallen off over the last 6 months or so.

I can fully understand your disappointment, and dismay at the way your pond has changed, it's scene I know only to well. It's something that limits my angling sessions, as you know. All I can say is, enjoy the angling that you still do, (even if it is only the occasional trip), and be thankful for the good years you enjoyed before the 'sickness' took over. I'm glad you're staying with us, and look forward to reading more of your excellent "rants", when the mood takes you.

Take care

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Janet not far from you there is a dark county wherin the natives are still painted in wode and tis said that the finest thing that comes from this dark county is the road back to Lancashire.....

However though the natives are oft described as being like Scotsmen but with the generosity removed there is an advantage in this for goodly thrifty Lancastrians for,as the Yorkists as they are known are sitting on a shedload of great cheap river fishing and a few decent still waters check out Bradford City AA and Bradford No1 as a good starter.

When your boat goes on the Lanky cut there is plenty of decent mixed fishing all along it's length especially in the basins and nowadays due to the rise of the commercial fisheries it rarely gets fished! Happy Days!

So there is really no need to pack in the fishing job just yet.

Oh and by the way if your fly gear is still water oriented i.e. AFTM 6 and above swap it for some river fly gear and give me a shout in the spring and I will show you some great trout sport that requires little casting.

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical

minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which

holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd

by the clean end"

Cheers

You're right there...I haven't been fishing on my club lake since February...it's been a bit of a difficult year with one thing and another....I haven't had time to get up there, and to be honest, I'd really lost the inclination to go...much as I loved the place, the fishing has changed, and I think not for the better. I've always said that I'm happy to catch anything that comes along, but carp after carp isn't my idea of fishing...

I am still fishing though, but now mainly restricted to the canal...not a bad thing really....! It's not easy, but it sure is fun!

I'm not knocking my old club in any way...I'll still go up to help on the work parties...if things change then I'll possibly join the waiting list for membership again, but not until they reduce the number of carp and return it to the lovely mixed fishery it was when I first joined.

Sorry to hear of yet another angler having their local waters destroyed by the irresponsible stocking of carp. Unfortunately, it's not just thinking anglers and the native fish that suffer. All of the fauna and flora gets decimated with the insect life bearing the brunt of it.

Of course, the irony is that the club have improved disabled access whilst stocking the lake with fish that many disabled anglers can't handle on their own.

The good news is that the wild fish are still there in the rivers.
