Lake Baikal Eastern Siberia anybody fish it?

I don't want to know about the species that live in it, as I already know about them. Nor do I want to know about it's size, that's also taken care of. E.g 550 Miles long by 250 miles wide and .75 of a mile deep at its deepest point.

What I would like is bait details, areas on the western bank that produce cacheable fish, etc.

Boy do I like a challenge, both for you and I !!! eek.gifeek.gifeek.gifconfused.gif

Phil,

You can't fish it without a guide. It has many poisionus fishes.

Many kinds of fish make Baikal their home, and about 50 are suitable for eating. A delicacy worldwide, the salmon found in Lake Baikal is excellent. While locals use it in many of their favorite dishes, they also enjoy sturgeon, burbot, groundling, oilfish, and bullhead. Pike and perch are easy to catch and very popular.

In the wind and rain all of this occurs. I have not yet fished it myself but have several friends that have. BTW I would consider C&R very strongly. The Darwin Project in the UK is now testing or verifying if indeed the Cherynoble waste is the reason the fish all glow green. smile.gif

There's a specialist fishing travel company in London who might be able to help.

They're called Frontiers and in the pnone book.

I was in Moscow a year ago and reading a magazine came across a feature on that lake. Well, I think it's the same one, the old grey matter working overtime and all that stuff. But what struck me was not only it's depth, but also the clarity of the water. I think they said something about being able to see the bottom in 40 metres of water or something like that. I remembered thinking if I ever fished there I'd probably take fluorocarbon....
