We have an artificial tree in the dining room but the wife does love having a real tree in the lounge at Xmas. I just go with flow to keep the peace

 

The tree we got this year was just under 8' and cost £40. I took this photo for our daughter who lives in Sydney and does like to see our tree every year.

That looks nice John. I do like to see trees etc., although i don't put anything in the way of decorations up at all.

 

Its different here. Xmas is nowhere near a "commercial event" as it is in the UK for instance.

 

Not knocking it, just saying it as it is.

Perhaps not but you would have insisted on it's Latin name.

It's not its "Latin name" it is it's Scientific Name, but yes I prefer to use unambiguous labels and often Scientific Names sound better. For example, Orca gladiator sounds much better, much more grand than "killer whale".
