I herd that they had some sort of beef with me...!!!

I would Steak my life on it, a bit rum..p if you ask me....

Steve - wasn't that herd in Hayrick Meadow by any chance....?

 

This reminds me of something whic happened to a friend of mine some years back.

 

He was fishing the Kennet at Widmead (below Newbury) and IIRC not having a particularly good day when he heard a tremendous splash upstream from him. A cow had fallen in from the opposite bank. The beast then swam downstream - through his swim - and clambered out safe and well back into her field. But this was no accident one by one the whole herd got in for a swim!!!! Sometimes 2 or 3 cows in the river at once all copying the first cow and swimming through this guys swim to return safely to their field

WE could only assume this gave them some respite from the flies but it was certainly unusual behaviour
