I hardly dare ask but whats happening? In AT a week or so ago it was stated that information re the SAA would soon be on this site. Before anyone jumps to the wrong conclusion I would just like, with all the best intentions in the world, to know! Thank you.

Dear Peter

A good question and not one for which you should be attacked.....just like you I am waiting for a posting to appear.

I was at the meeting last month and have been looking for some info being placed to enlighten those who could not attend but who are curious to see how things shape up.

Come on chaps at the SAA, give us some info on this site please.

Yours With Respect.....

Steve.

PS...Committee positions would be a nice start, OK.

I don't know. I sit here every night ignoring the lustful calls of my beautiful wife, the affectionate whimpering of my pet dalmatian and the smell of the pub just 750 yards away to put this site together, and people don't even notice 'things'.

If you want SAA committe type stuff, take a look here:

This was added over three weeks ago wink.gif

Don't hold your breath for anything else on this site, though, as I'm on holiday from Sunday biggrin.gif

All the best,

Elton

Yep, saw that Elton, about three weeks ago! But, like most on this forum I have high hopes for the SAA. But I do understand that there have been a few changes as the committee settles down. The SAA is here, its important, most of us wish it well. All we see is the SACG page. Come on fellows, we all love you, we care, we have high hopes for the future, we just want to know whats going on!

I know it seems like a long time, but we all have jobs to do, as well as angling. And for most of us earning a living comes first.

With the start of the traditional season on rivers, some of us have even tried to get in a bit a rod time. biggrin.gif

What is happening at the moment? Well, the SAA response to the EU Common Fisheries Policy (28 pages) has been submitted to the old MAFF (now DEFRA) and numerous other bodies, including all national weekly angling publications. This is reported elsewhere on this site, but so far no one has asked for further details, so we have not asked Elton to post the whole document.

There have been letters in the Daily Telegraph, submissions to other national newspapers and various MPs and other NGOs, ongoing work with the EA on a revised Code of Conduct for Anglers, work on fish densities and mortalities in commercial waters and that is just for starters.

In the background we have been pulling together two organisations (NASA and SACG), learning from each other and trying to develop a structure which can truly represent the needs of our member specialist anglers. This is somewhat more complicated than starting a new group from scratch, as systems must be integrated

Unfortunately redesigning the website has not been a priority because of time restraints. It will come, but in reality, you may need to wait to see any detail. One of the “problems” for SACG was poor publicity for what was being done and achieved, we hope that with the new structure of officers, particularly the communications group, this will improve under SAA.

At the end of the day we are dependent on the interest of the angling weeklies to carry the publicity and press releases we put out. They are always published here and elsewhere on the i-net but the most certain way of finding out what is happening within SAA is to become a member and receive the newsletters and magazines.

Membership is available to individual anglers at £20.00 a year and you can enquire about joining by mailing me at saauk100@hotmail.com

Hi Mike

What can one expect to get back, I mean apart from all the work you are doing on anglings behalf, for the £20 membership?
