What can one expect to get back, I mean apart from all the work you are doing on anglings behalf, for the £20 membership?

You can expect two magazines a year and at least two newsletters, hopefully a conference and, if the membership want them, perhaps some fish-ins. But, in my opinion, your question epitomises the problems we have in angling. i.e. What's in it for me.

What I get out of SAA is a lot of pleasure, mixed with the hard work, and the satisfaction of believing that I am putting something back into a sport I have enjoyed for fifty years. Joining and not participating may salve the conscience, but participation is the most important aspect of membership of SAA.

The more anglers that join and get involved actively in SAA, the more we can do and the more we can achieve. Presumably you have a similar motivation in being an RO for the BS?

Hi Mike

Did my post not sound the way I had intended?

Perhaps I should have worded it better/differently.

I just wondered how members would be kept informed as to what the 'committee' is doing ie with newsletters etc.

My fishing is done on a very tight budget as most of my money goes on the boys. Like the others I have joined other clubs/societies this year. It is not only the BS I put something back into but also my local club & AN when ever possible.

Unfortunatly there are only so many hours in a day & with working full time & having Liam (Matthew looks after himself) my days are full anyway.

I am sorry if you read my post the wrong because by the sound of your reply you must have.

At the end of the day Mike, would you just give someone £20 not knowing why/what you were giving it to them for?

Sorry, I just re-read my response and I think I put it badly, not you. I really should not respond when Sunday dinner is being called.
