Excuse me if i am a bit out of sorts here as i have not been on the forum long but fished all my life

I don't know whether the idea has been put forward or tried or is just not viable or possible or whatever but a Anglers Net syndicate or club with some waters would be such a great idea.

OK, apologies in advance for a stupid idea but i dunno what do you old timers think or am i in ga ga land here :lol:

What a great idea...but where on the map would they be ? Members are spread right across the country and odds on the southerners would come first ;)

Well the southerners should come first :bleh:

On a serious note though why not?

I'd be up for it but tbh it would have to be within half an hour to an hours drive maximum or it just wouldn't be viable. I don't think it would ever work. It would always be too far for some people, and then there's the cost. There'd be disputes on stocking, some would not want carp, others may not want orientals or barbel for example.

Although it's a nice idea I don't think it would ever work tbh

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."

Hawk,

You might consider SE Utah. ("Use" land is $.70 an acre including some nice lakes) ("use" land is government owned but you can get up to 99 yr lease for non-profits).

Unfortunately most of AN is among 70 million Englishmen in a area the size of our 5th smallest state.

I too would be up for it but distance would play a major factor on it , however if all AN members where to chip in am shure we could be able to manage a few good river streches and lakes ? but who would chip in I hear you ask .....

I was thinking the same thing :P

HONOR IS DOING THE RIGHT THING, EVEN WHEN NOBODY IS LOOKING ...

Laugh and the world laughs with you; weep, and you weep alone.

"Yes, I will do the opposite. I used to sit here and do nothing and regret it for the rest of the day. So now i will do the opposite, and i will do something..." George Costanza

This was discussed very early in the life of AN but it soon became obvious that due to the wide spread geographic location of members it simply would not be feasible.

So instead the idea of "Fish Ins" was adopted. These could be run all over the country (in fact the world!) and so any member who wanted to travel to one could. It has worked well to a degree but sadly (in my mind) not enough are willing to step up and organise them still.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

And when they do organise one like norfolkdipper did only 4 others turned up out of dozens showing interest.

I was (and still would be) very interested in running a fish in in France but it died a death due to lack of interest.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

It's not much of an incentive to put in all that time and effort, when you see other events not supported :(
