What are the best places to catch a Zander?

Have to admit I knew they had Zander at Frisby Lakes but had never paid to much attention as to far "up North" it does look like an interesting venue and with it's size I do think it could hold the odd good fish.

 

Can some one please tell me the best peg and bait? :D

Can some one please tell me the best peg and bait? :D

I can go one better and catch the fish for you and ring you to come and grab the rod while you have your having your brew (special of course) in the clubhouse. Following which I will take a photo of you with it. Treat it with 'klinique', weigh it, walk around the lake with it to show everyone else, sack it so you can show your mates later then return it half dead for you while you go and roll a fat dooby and get your banging tunes on. Proper pukka mate. :D :D :D

I will bring him hot tea and a hot bath and we will all chip in for a rather nice young lady to keep him warm at night! :lol:

Any chance you could keep it pike tunnel for a year or two and feed it weekly for me. Once it has put on a few pound then we can think about a few trophy shots :D

No problems. Would you mind me whoring it out to others though once it has reached record weight? I am thinking we could get someone to come on over and be photographed with it against a different backdrop each week and then they can be catapulted to stardom and become the next big name to join the fight with the PAG! Think of it as a kind of PAG member breeding programme.

 

I think we are onto a winner here! :D

Totally agree. Now if only we knew of a good zander location that can guarantee loads of zander as I think it would be wise to catch more than one each day to ensure that we have a backup plan in case any die from handling. I hear Hawk is pretty good on OBH but then that means cutting him into the profits. :D

All you have to do at Celtic Lakes is follow the explicit instructions and you'll be rewarded with a least 5 double figure zander and probably a couple of nuisance 20lb+ pike. What more could you ask for :).

 

The Zander respond well to delicately presented coarse dead baits with small skimmer bream and roach being the stand out baits. Live bait roach also work well. ... The so called ‘Kebab Rig’, hair rigged chunks of roach or bream, also works very well using size 8 or 10 single hooks. ... Pegs around the island inlets (40-50) are very good swims as is the point swim (Number 1&2). Peg 54 in the bay entrance is also a very good Zed swim.

But with the negative (if realistic) tone of the responses, don't be surprised if Snakehead decides to post elsewhere...

I would like to know what are the best places to go and catch Zander? I am interested in an easy water with a good chance fo catching lots of them during the day. A good runs water would be my first option but happy to have information on more difficult waters. I am not bothered about the size but it would be good if a bag of them would have a few doubles but dont mind if the average stamp is five to eight pound.

 

Location is not an issue as willing to travel to waters that guantee plenty of action. What are the best locations for your top ten bag up Zander venues?

 

I would rather not wait to long between bites.
