Just back having fished a long overnighter

I arrived around 6am at Hatfield Forest. It was 10 degrees with a heavy chop on the water, wind right to left. I kept an eye while setting up bivvy, rods etc, a noticed what I thought was a Bream role at around 80 yards in around 7 foot of water. Ummed and erred, eventually decided to put out around ten medium spods of very lose groundbait and particle (concerned I might be putting bait on their heads and wanted it spread around).

Had my first indigation at 8 ish, and my first bream at 10:30. Not a net buster, but at aorund 8lb, it was a good start, fish falling for a haired lob on a half-fixed rig. Although I knew that at this venue, the bream, 95% of the time fall for a worm of sorts, on my third rod I chose to fish a 10 mm pellet with a half a 10 mm white choc boilie butterfly either side. The other two rods fished with a lob and denja's.

Around 2pm I had my next fish, a small bream around 4lb, quickly followed by two small hybids. It then went quiet until 9:30pm, (it didnt help that I went to my car and listened to The mighty Stevengae on 3CR (yes we did lose and yes I did bring my rods in)). Next fish came at 10 which was around 9lb+, in good nick too. Then the surprise on the night, on the pellet rod and 6lb tench. Finished the night with 7 bream, one tench, one small carp and a handful of hybrids. Best Bream a great conditioned, youngish fish of 10lb 9oz.

Off to new forest tommorow, for a few days with the wife, so catch up when I'm back...

Sounds a decent session. I am guessing with the rise in temps and pressure that today should be even better.

Nice work, were you nice and warm? - having fished the last three nights myself (seafishing for Cod and only getting a handfull of pin whiting) I have found myself having to take layers of clothing off and no need for a shelter.

Seems like a good session, do you have any photos?

I do have a couple of photo's and once I've worked out how to upload them I will do, soon.

Thanks for all the well done's chaps. Just goes to prove that if you're not on the bank, you won't catch the fish, and, Bream and Tench in winter. The Tench was a real surprise, probably my earliest, although not targeted, he-he.

For those who fancy a go at Hatfield Forest, it's a fiver a day for non members, but to night fish it you need to PM me (all will become clear) or now someone who is a member.

Tight Lines

HOW DO I upload a pic or two to a reply/thread? Cheers
