2 days ago while updating adaware 7 the programme said #8 was available so i updated to that. yesterday i was getting pop ups galore and so decided to run adaware.

A pop up window said adaware had stopped working.

This morning uninstalled adaware and then reinstalled. Ran a scan and it picked up 2 malwares and the usual tracking cookies. Still getting pop ups. tried to run a scan again and pop up window said adaware has stopped working.

Went through he control panel to uninstall and deleted one thing i wasnt sure of. all else looks ok except this ( Hauppauge MCE2005 software encoder ) does anyone know what it is, dont want to uninstall in case its important.

Any suggestions and advice welcomed. Thanks

Cheers Fred

Hi Fred,

I've got XP media center (sp) on my desktop but I have never used it. With so many other options available for viewing I just haven't bothered with it. I only use IE7 popup blocker.

Happy to say adaware is working again.

Windows defender found a Trojan ( win 32) or something like that and removed it and i ran adaware succesfully and it only picked up 14 trackers which were removed. That will teach me not to look at naughty stuff.

Doesnt say much for my paid anti-virus system tho does it.

thanks again Jeff
