Has any of the forums guitar players any thoughts on Gretsch acoustic guitars.

I'm thinking of buying a Gretsch G3500 Rancher Folk.

Thanks in advance :D

Sorry old chum, the bass is not for me at all. Thanks for your, as ever, invaluable help in helping me decide which instrument to ponder over, especially when you dislike the guitar as an instrument, :o . Your a star old chum. ;)

Hi Andrew - The best advice for choosing any musical instrument is to actually play as many as possible before coming to a decision. I don't personally like Gretsch acoustic guitars (it's the triangular soundhole!), but they're generally well-regarded and the Rancher series is well-priced.

The reason everyone says to try before you buy is that (especially with instruments in the lower price range) no two supposedly identical models will sound and play exactly the same - buying "blind" means you're just as likely to get stuck with a dud as to pick up a bargain.

The only exception to that advice is if your current instrument is so poor that almost anything is bound to be an improvement (which is why I once bought a fiddle "sight unseen" from an internet dealer with a good reputation)!

Are you looking for a decent guitar or just a bash and strum?

TBH, you got to try before you buy, the tonal diffences between the same brand can be very noticable and

what you like the tone of, someone else will hate.

I personally hate the tone of Fender Acoustics, I prefer the Maton bright sound.

A good guitar mate with a good tone to it.Must agree Fender acoutics crap sound.

My mate has a Seagul acoustic, sounds amazing. Bit like the Blueridge acoustic i have.

Never got to the store, to bloody wet to stray out doors.

PS

I like a bit of bass tone, not to deep though.

If your money goes that far try an Ovation.I've had one since 1980.It just gets better.

The ones i've looked at are all electro acoustic.
