Would this put you off of car ferries?

I used to work on the old Peter Pan AKA SF Panther AKA St Clair, Aberdeen-Lerwick. Now there was a proper vomit comet.

I ran a few training courses on the St Clair. I remember going on board one Monday morning when they had had a rough night run down from Lerwick the night before. The smell of dettol and vomit was overpowering :P

When were you on the St Clair?

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity

Late '77, early '78. I did not like it very much, but it was not the bad weather that put me off. I was just a 'blue water' man. I never did care to much for shuttling around the coast. I remember that wet/dry vacuum cleaners had just come onto the market at the time. We used to call them "spew gobblers" on the ST Clair.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.
Vaut mieux ne rien dire et passer pour un con que de parler et prouver que t'en est un!
