I have a new one from the weekend, having a duck pick up your hook bait and playing it under water thinking it is a fish and then having the mad panic when it breaks the water surface after about five minutes and you realise what you have hooked is a bird. Not good.

Where do you live? I don't think there are any dangerous snakes in the UK.

We have the adder, which although poisonous, isn't usually fatal. Clicky

I have previously made jokes about being scared when night fishing, but having read what you all have written, I can at least get a glimmer of what you are generally nervous of when out at night the unknown.

There is nothing wrong with being scared or nervous any person who says they have never been nervous or scared is in my opinion either a liar or crazy...why and how do I say that sorry no details.

I still think you all watch too much television and let your imaginations get away with you...perhaps you are lacking confidence in what you are capable of, all of the UK's indigenous population have got soft. The bogeyman? The living dead? Witches? Vampires, Monsters? Ghouls? The supernatural? There is no proof that any of it is real and if it was why would it attack you? Maybe you are suffering from nervousness caused by guilt?

Maybe we should all get back to church, synagogue, temple, mosque or whatever and get some of that good old Hell Fire preaching perhaps that would help, talk things over with the vicar, priest, father, pastor, Rabi, imam or whoever.

Gangs of thugs yes a known problem answer when threatened say nothing DO NOT UTTER A SINGLE WORD just attack with a maniac level of violence, far above what any aggressor could imagine or would expect. Don't wave a stick or a knife in front of an aggressor just use it. Pin the Ba****d's foot to the bank then knock the s**t out of him, knees (his) elbows, hands might prevent the little s**t attacking someone else. He need's your gear and money for his habit? Help him get over his addiction tear his head off and pee down his neck or inject 20 to 30cc of air into his blood system although thinking about it battery (hydrochloric acid or drain cleaner might be more fun).

There is only vague indication that large and dangerous cats are about in the UK.

The laughed at victorinox is quite capable of cutting through the carotid artery death follows quite quickly although the blood does spurt out quite a lot.

A good finger or stick in the eye can be quite serious, a middle knuckle punched into a persons eye can crush the eyeball, a bank stick can be driven by the average sized person right through someone or upwards below the chin into the brain activity tends to cease I would imagine.

Best bet avoid such gang frequented areas.

Second go with a few mates.

Third best study serious martial arts.

Stop watching so many horror films.

I do not think there is a single reported case of a squirrel attacking a human being.

Rats and Badgers can be a problem.

Lack of food, water and sleep can promote a tendency towards illusions and heightened imagination.

I think it is best to meet your fears head on and learn to master them and by that I don't mean go and attack your local gang of louts I mean your more irrational or imaginary fears.

Far be it for me to promote vigilante groups making our country safer, since our police force has proven themselves of being totally incapable of doing it, they have just become a group of bullying random tax collectors for the government, so much so that one could almost say that policing by consent is a thing of the past as is keeping the Queens peace. Heck they cant even keep drugs out of jails.

I don't think the prospect of an eternity spent being pitchforked up the bum by demons unless I renounce all "sin" is going to help a lot with my feelings of guilt.
