I contend the laps in you theory is the assumption carp will even mess with a pile of FOOD that is contaminated with yucky grapefruit rind. Especially if other food is readily available.

You may well be right! My assumption is only an assumption. That's why I like trying things, either way it's useful and interesting.

I might add that it was large roach on the waggler that I caught using punched carrot, so not much sucking and blowing going on there. Thinking on it now, I believe we only tried it after using mixed tinned carrot, peas and corn because we couln't get any corn nearby on day. After catching on the tinned carrot, the raw stuff seemed like the next natural progression BUT I woudn't make a habit of it. It didn't go like the corn ever did. Peas were alright though.
