Facebook.

A means of keeping your friends informed or something more sinister.

I don't like facebook.

From what I see of it people get carried away with it a put any old junk on it.

I have seen people posting confidential and private information as well as giving insults.

I have seen parents ignoring their children whilst they do an important Facebook post or update.

I have seen people posting things that would breach privacy laws and others who post things that would leave themselves vulnerable or others vulnerable.

Facebook is a menace as it destroys the art of face to face communication and it is fast becomming addictive for some people.

It can be a very useful way of getting business, or getting in touch with contacts via PM.

In my case also with keeping in touch with family and friends around the world.

If you get a wall covered with trivia, its time to chop your friends list.

Not a fan - but I'm guessing you knew that already.

My account exists solely so that people I've met on my travels van track me down.

Not really enough choices on that poll.

Do I have an account? Yes

Do I use of often? No

Will I maintain it? Yes and for much the same reasons as Ken L gave.

That said, the overuse or inappropriate use is down to the users rather than the site itself. Most of your comments could be applies to posts on here over the years although those nasty moderators got rid of most of them.

"Facebook is a menace as it destroys the art of face to face communication"

Most of the people you chat/post/whatever with on electronic media aren't close enough to visit with in person and if you have international mates, even the phone would be way too expensive.

I have an account but rarely use it, just a means of keeping in touch with friends and is useful for organising events.

However some people do use it excessively and it is sad how it takes over some peoples lives, anything more than a couple hours a week is too much IMO.

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."

i like it purely for keeping in touch with old school pals that i dont get much of a chance to meet up with quite so often and for posting my photographs ive taken.

i get annoyed at pointless posts. one today was about someones kid taking a dump in her nappy on a busy high street, not that anyone would have noticed anyway...

If ever there was a company with the potential to collapse at the whim of changing customer taste, it's Facebook.

It could so easily do a FriendsRenunited.
