Yes and I enjoy reading them and was spurred on a bit due to my previous lazyness of not bothering to photo the eels we caught.Didnt take that much extra effort so will make the point of trying to do more.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

There's quite a few still to come, but once everyone's catch reports, stories etc are in I'll do the usual summary and thanks. Then it'll be time to announce the date of the next Fish-In.

By the way, I writing this the day after the Fish-In finished in shirtsleeves, in the sunshine and a temperature of 21C!

After Arriving down Wingham on the friday dinnertime that Budgie and I was fishing together (can't I fish alone next time?) ;):D

My chosen peg was going to be the left orchard peg and with a bit of an problem with the pegging that budgie wasn't keen on the platform and rather wanted to go in the left orchids and after a bit of discussion - because I was carp fishing and it was concluded that we stay on the original plans that Steve got us to do

Well after setting up the bivvy and constants barging of the mobile phone from a fellow member and members! that it took me a while to get everything sorted out. - ie bivvy up away from the wind, rods set up, rod rod and bite alarms and the list go on and on!

The first night was going really slow and was unable to sleep because again constant text messages between me and budgie and other members (next year the mobile phone will be turn off! :D )

Around 2am in the morning heard a shout from budgie and so i went up to him and see him playing a fish and he was staying that he too tired to try and net the fish! Jeez bruv - can't you do anything yourself lately? :D Well I netted this so called which be claim to be either a big eel, sorry, or a big bream, wrong again - a big carp for him!

After a chat for a while I wondered back to my bivvy - hoping for a big fish for myself!

By dawn - nothing had happen apart from a few bleeps on all three rods. I winding in the bait and got myself ready to go over to the clubhouse for a quick bite of a bacon sandwich provided by milky monitor (steve campbell)

After meeting and taking other anglers to the swims and quick chat - it was almost time for the Peggy famous BBQ at the clubhouse! As always Peggy do a grand job on the BBQ. I left a bit early after the BBQ to do a bit of mass baiting the swim up - with maggots, boilies and pellets in hoping for a fish.

Because of the lack of sleep from the nigh before - doing the netting job that I fell asleep and only to be woken up with the constant noise of the vibrating receiver in the trouser pocket to tell me that one of my rod was on a carp run - so immediately went to the rod and I stumble /fell down net to the rod rod where the run had stop and I actually kicked my rods in anger because of my fault rushing to hit the rod which out to be a false liner alarm!

I badly cut and few grazes over the left knee pad and not to mention my right leg was hurting due to the leg ulcur i have been having problem with lately.

Sadly because the run - again re baited all three rods again and went back to the bivvy again and more less fell asleep again! Throughout the night again quite a few bleeps from all three rods and nothing happen through the night.

By next morning after a rude awaking from the mobile phone boosting on the number of fish been have caught made me re bait the swim and chill out for the morning but I didn't! In the end pull the sleeping bag over me and went back to sleep!

It wasn't until Sunday evening when I had my first proper run and when I hit the striking of the rod - knew straight away into an eel! When budgie netted it for me - i knew that I have broken an new pb for a very long while as the last eel I caught was a bootlace from Arrow Valley Lake over 20 odds year ago!

We weigh the eel sometime later which weigh in at 4lb 12ozs and budgie told me what to do in the unhooking and keeping the eel relax for the photo!

I got an Drennan Bolt rig feeder above the eel to give a size comparison

but they are still not that easy to hold either

Well I am more than happy to catch a new personal best eel but shame didn't get one of those forties carp! Maybe be "converted to an eel specialists"

I would like to say a big thanks for Steve for allowing me to fish again as always!, Big thanks to Peggy with the wonderful BBQ she did over the course of three days! A big thanks to the Bailiff Terry, Dave and Glynn and others!

But I also say big thanks to Steve again for allowing "us" to do the planting of the wisteria in memory of Jan

Growing old is inevitable but growing up is optional
