Thanks for all your comments, but no-one has answered my main question. Is now a good time of year to destroy the nest, or should I wait a couple of months?

 

The advice was,"the earlier the better" (Chesters, post #8)

 

If you want to wait a couple of months (why dat?) you might as well wait until November, when the problem will have gone away (until next year)
