Pellets in winter

Hiya,

 

As winter draws in will pellets on rivers loose there effectivness like the magazines tell us?

 

This weekend I tried boilies and caught one fish (A PB barbel, 9lb 2oz) was well chuffed !!

 

That was my only fish of the session and didnt catch anything on pellets either.

they say that pellets are less effective in winter because there isn't the sufficient water tempuratures for them to leak thier oils. also i think people say that fish can't digest them as easily. BTW what flavour boilie did you have your barbel on?

Im undecided. Ive caught a fair few barbel on halibuts in winter. Would I have caught more on low oil baits? Couldnt say!

 

Ive also had success using very oily paste!
