Not a problem for me, since I have blood relatives with French nationality I can become an "honourable Frenchman" any time I like.

I wouldnt think twice mate. Obtain French nationality, you never know what the future holds.

the British dont mind the concept of dual nationality with other EU countries. If you need to surrender your UK paqssport as part of the Nationalisation process, the British will just give you another.

I obtained a UK passport easily, i thought it might come in handy if i wanted some extra money when im older (benefits and all that)......

:lol::P :P

Why o why did the UK leave EFTA to join the EEC ?

EFTA is now trading free far beyond eastern europe and is now tapping into asia.

The UK at the moment could with ease have a free trade with the US and its free trade buddy's

Emerging markets are not in the EU.

The UK should get with the global program and ditch its contribution to the EU.

The Great British Pound £ stg is mighty and respected around the world.

Spain is just a small (being 4th) state of europe. France is (2nd) behind Germany

how is France 2nd ? because it is work shy ? strike's all the time ? retire's Young or is it

because it is the biggest receiver of CAP funds

The EU is doomed, be in denial all you like. Only England & Germany will survive (sort of cruise) this, ironic ;)

Ironic no one has mentioned Holland/Netherlands ! Some pundits dont know their europe

Check out GDP (PPP) Per Captia for Germany

againt Switzerland and Norway.

What did Denmark do to anyone ? They came last behind the UK

The UK does not need a popular vote, it dont need a thumbs up and the rest of the world realises this.

Hense the Eurovision, keep on bailing out/voting for your neigbours :P

Good luck with that :)

The Ha Ha Ha factor is not quite fair with regards the Spanish situation.

Spain has always been fugal as a rule and until about 10 years ago had balanced books

IE not spending more than it collected in taxes (simplified).

However, the EU gravyy train has been running through other southern european countries

and dropping off billons along its way. Giving the impresion that they are prospering

and contributing to the greater european economy.

Spain has built, in the last 10 years, 1 million new homes. Great.

However, no one wants/needs them. They stand empty. The loans issued by

the banks to fund these builds remain unpaid.

The 800,000 (aleged) ex pat's cannot off load their investments into Spain as no one whats them

and the local's cannot aford the loan to buy/mortgage them.

What is the total bailout count so far ?

Any one seen any positive from giving the PIGS Billions ?

Any of these "countries" showing sign's of growth from this injection of cash ?

Italy will be along soon, cupped hands an all, it will not be their fault, because they are

not corrupt or anything, they pay income tax and NI and receive a VAT receipt for every

pasta / pitza & coffee they consume.

It will be the rest of Europes fault.

Benelux is being quite, Belgium did not have a government for ages and managed to avoid

surrendering its accounts. Holland ??? Silence !

France has chosen a socialist president, how arogant is that, Merkel stay strong, Viva Germany.

I think they are doing a big and brave job, OK they have some reasons, mostly for leading the way at the start

but dont knock them for their Joe puplic having to pay big time in taxes.

Dont forget the EU still has to fund/subsidies the CZ, RO, HU, PO and other eastern euorpean coutries.

I cannot imagine how much fun it must be to be part of the Eurozone.

long live the £ stg.

Work hard, Make profits, pay taxes :)

There is nothing "alleged" about the 800,000 British immigrants..The numbers are from the Uks own ambassador...I can put up a link to him stating this Tuesday Pm when i get home.

You are quite accurate in your assessment of the Spanish economy as a whole, there is only aprox 30% of the banking sector affected by being involved in property speculation, rather than in what banks should stick to I.E banking.

There is 100 Billion available, of which only 40 billion is reckoned to be needed, they should have accessed it before, it was stupid to pay 6% when credit could be obtained for much less.

At least it is not a general bailout of the country, as was needed by Ireland, Portugal, Greece or Britain, and there are no conditions attached as part of the loan.
