THIEVES who stole £10,000-worth of fish from a garden pond must have used explosives, an electric shock or drugs to take them, their owner has said.

I'd buy the electro-shock idea. Small fireworks explosives work also and are quite muffled in the water (we call them "cherry bombs"). A 7 ft deep pond may be pretty tough a netting snatch and run operation. As for drugs - I don't know of any such drug? Wonder what he might be thinking they could use? It sounds like he is an experienced koi guy so maybe one exists. The Japanese don't use drugs when transporting between the US and Japan for breeding.

A sad story - really.

Phone, there are some relaxants but i forgoet the name of them, found out about them a few days ago while reading something.

as for fireworks, would never do it now but when i was younger i used to light the little screaming firework rockets then lower them in a river (bottle rockets i think you call them) and watch them go like little torpedo's.

In my old House someone raided my Pond there and stole all of my fish.

Now, given that many fish belonged to my Autistic son, who was very distressed, I went ballistic and went to see a few of the local scraggs. I told them quite plainly that, if my fish did not return, anyone I identified as the culprit or culprits would be seeing the inside of the local hospital for a long time. I made it very clear what I would do in graphic detail.

The next weekend, when I went on a short family break, I came back to find my pond had had almost all the stolen fish returned.

All,

Brought this back to the top. In today's paper - Sunday. An article about the indians in the southwest being "forbidden" from chemically stunning fish with the sap from the yucca plant (execpt on indian land).

Appearently it is an age old fishing method and common practice.

I didn't know that!?
