an aside question to Newts topic, routers.

The one i have with aol is at least 5-7 years old. The desktop is used through bt's phone line and we have the portable wireless one as well. All is very well apart from video streaming that can chug along sometimes.

Can an uptodate router improve the speed at which we recieve info? We have looked at download speeds etc and these are within aol's perameters as acceptable.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Are you using wireless for everything? If you notice that the problems you've seen only happen on wireless connections and not with an Ethernet cable connection, you might get some benefit from upgrading your router and possibly your wireless adapters. Chances are, though, that the bottleneck is your broadband connection and not your local network.

A router will only connect as fast as the local exchange will allow your line to. Regardless of how new it is or how good it's software is.

Some allow for better sharing of multiple connections and throttling etc, but even they can only work within the limit of your phone line speed.

Run this test on your non wireless system and make a note of the connection speed and your ip profile.

Check my post here as well about testing your connections via the main bt input.

If things are somewhat slow then you might also consider one of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Brand-New-BT-I-Pla...9229&sr=8-1

I've seen them add anywhere between .5 and 1.5 meg to a connection speed.

Finally you need to run speed checks regularly for a week or so to see if your phone line is staying constant or dropping speed etc at certain times.

the new faceplate did nothing for my speed as it was only a two wire connection anyway ,mine speed is 1.1 mb BT could supply .4mb and still call it broadband

Thanks very much for the info, yes i looked at the other topic re speeds etc, my filters etc are working as normal, my desk top is not wireless, yet the portable appears to be functioning at the same level, i.e. the video's chug along sometimes. Yes i believe that although the ip talks a good job, what you receive is nothing like what they claim. Thanks for the info re the router. When i have time i will have a fiddle etc. off :fishing: for a couple of days, most important. cheers.

If your wired and wireless clients are experiencing the same delays, upgrading your router probably won't make any difference.

What connection speeds is ADSLSpeedTest telling you you are getting?

Hello Steve,

Down .914 mb/s

and up .352 mb/s and it appears to be a good average over a period of time.

And we are not too far from our exchange believe it or not.

This is with aol, honest we have not had any major issues with them ever apart from low video streaming.

B t are offering a super fast service in our area, bit a a sceptic when it comes to what they say and what we receive.
