Camp sites by rivers

Hi i'm new on here but hopefully some of you regulars have some suggestions for me!

I recently bought a campervan with the intention of getting away fishing for a few days a week so far i've been to Anchor meadow on the warwickshire Avon and bank farm on the river severn.

Can anyone suggest any other good campsites where you can take a campervan that are on the banks of or walking distance to good river fishing.

I'm from Leicester and theres plenty of decent lakes / ponds but not much good river fishing so i'm trying to do as much river fishing as i can over the next few months

Any suggestions and info very welcome

Thanks

Houghton Mill Caravan Site, Houghton and Wyton, near St. Ives, Huntingdonshire. Right on the banks of the Gt. Ouse and plenty of country pubs within a short walking distance (Three Jolly Butchers, Axe & Compass and Three Horseshoes) and not too far a walk into St. Ives and the Indian & Chinese restaurants . Also, within a mile of it; Wyton Lakes Camping Site (adults only) has a couple of carp puddles on site and is opposite the marina with a pub / restaurant, and also Quiet Waters in Hemmingford Abbots ( full of thatched cottages) is also on the banks of the Gt. Ouse and has a great pub (Axe & Compass) just outside the drive.

Regards, Clive

We have used a campervan for many years, and beside many a river.

Just one word of warning - if you camp on a flood plain next to a river, be VERY aware of the weather forecast, and park on higher ground if at all possible.

Better to have to walk down the field to fish than finding a small river rise has bogged down the van, or a large river rise has washed it away!

That is some of the best advice anyone can give you.
