Ken,

 

We have the NASA TV channel. Do you receive it? That You-tube presentation is part of a simulation (from a while back) for what was/did supposed to happen(ed). Looks like they hit a "home run" with the landing. In truth, I thought it was kind of a Walter Mitty sort of affair going in.

 

Truthfully, I've been caught up in the olympics and haven't given much TV time to NASA. Don't watch that much TV anyway. The NASA channel is mostly repeats and repeats. Won't take long to catch up. I mean, exactly how much "space" can they show that the general public can understand?

AFAIK there's no NASA channel here but yes, the animation has been around for a while and yes, I looked at it and thought the "skycrane" malarkey would never work.

I thought the mashup of the animation with the landing audio and video from the actual event worked rather well though.

 

We had the constant repeats thing over here when discovery started up..... Sharks, tornadoes - Tornadoes - sharks.
