Rio Xingu, Southern Amazon Fishery, Brazil

I got back just now from a great little lodge on the Rio Xingu, where the huge Bella Monte Dam is half built but stopped due to Indian concerns etc. If this and the upper dam does get completed, they will destroy the very ethics of what you would all imagine the Amazon is about. The migratory fish would die, the river below these dams would shrivel and dry up, the indigenou people would lose their homes. It's a mess which hopefully will remain stopped for years to come.

Check out the fishing pics on this slide show. http://animoto.com/play/o8kpNwO0qF0EvhunuqKexw
