Seighford Lakes Fishing Report 2012/2013

Recommended Posts

Finally after a slow few summer months we are ready too kick off our new season in style. Fish are being stocked in next wednesday (19th) after a few hard weeks of weed removal.

Fresh Rainbows are going into the Swan neck Pool from 2lb upwards, the stocking will also include half a dozen Double figure fish. So if you still haven't hit that 10lb barrier this winter could be your year to change that.

For any more information don't hesitate to call the lodge phone on 01785 282967, our new website is under construction and will hopefully be up and running by the end of this month.

Hope to see you soon.

The Fresh fish have been in a little over a day and are all ready showing. Top Rod yesterday despite the bad weather (too Bright) was Robert Colby who landed 5 Rainbows on submerged Daddies. Rod Average is 2.9 at the moment, which is expected to improve with this cooler weather coming in. Never Tried Trout fishing? Come and give it ago this winter, with helpful advice on site all the while. Myself and England International Phil Dixon are always around if you need any help. Tuition is also available for first timers and for the more advanced angler. For more info on prices and availability, call the lodge phone on 01785 282967.

Work is still going on with the weed on the Railway Pool and should be finished and restocked soon.

A new web site is also being set up with a brand new guided page with your chance to catch a variety of fish from wild trout to sea trout and salmon which people are catching now, speak to Phil for more information on 07921 713 716.

Catch you all soon and tight Lines.

A good weekend of fishing was had for a lot of anglers this week with some fine rainbows and blues coming out, Only 1 of the big fish has come out so far. Geoff Hadley taking the best fish of the day...landing a 9lb Rainbow on his second cast at the top end of the Swan neck pool on a Diawl Bach.

Anglers have been catching on various lures with olive and black/green fritz working the best. The banks are full of daddy long-legs at the moment and anglers are catching on dry and sunk daddies so they are always worth a cast or two.

See you soon

Tony Sunderland took the best fish this week. Landing a superb Rainbow off 11lb 9oz. He also banked a further 6 fish all on a Black and Green Lure, using a floating line. Local anglers Kev and Jock caught 5 fish a peice yesterday, They moved over the two lakes having just half a dozen cast from each peg. Both caught on a varity of Lures. Other flies that have been working this week are small CDC's and Orange Hoppers. Tight lines to anyone on the bank this week.

Well what a great weekend of fishing, trout coming out everywhere with every angler catching fish. Sport has been great on a varitey of methods form dry flies to lures with a slow sinker being the best line.

Work has nearly been finished on the Railway Pool and is looking great for this winter, sport should be fantastic. Fish will be stocked into both Pools all the way through the winter now to keep the sport at this high level.

Geoff Hadley from Stafford had a brilliant day fishing dry flies on the Swan Neck pool taking 6 fish to 6lb all off the top. Regular anglers Jock and Kev caught well fishing lures on Sunday using a floating line. Green and white was they best colour with the odd fish coming out on black.

With the cooler weather fishing will stay good and the trout will be feeding well so come and catch that fish of a lifetime.

Tight Lines.
