Boat weight

Hmmm........... thats a tough one. For a start the difference in build between a Wilson and a Nab aren't comparable. Wilsons are pretty flimsy when compared to a Nab dory, Nab's are built like a tank. You don't say what size of outboard or what horse power. Same with the trailer, manufactured or home made.

If you are wanting to know the overall weigh for towing purposes you'll have to add fuel, batteries and all the other parafinallia you have on board.

Your best bet is towing the lot to a weighbridge, have a look here.

Just found the papers for my old 14' Nab dory, this is the site of the brothers who build them, give them a ring I'm sure they can tell you the correct weight.

Thanks Manxman, I would do just that if I had one.

Am looking to buy at the moment and trying to get all the logistics sorted out before I commit to anything. Have called Ocean a couple of times but they're obviously not there over the w/end. Will try again tomorrow.

At the moment I'm driving a Citroen Dispatch and I'm almost sure it's not enough. I just need to get it home for now and I'll probably put it on a mooring. Once I know the weight I can work the rest out. If necessary I have a perfectly good VW LT35 on SORN. I'd rather put that back on the road than pay someone to pick it up.

Ah... Well if you have a choice get a Nab, you don't see many for sale though. If you aren't in a hurry for one, the wait is worthwhile. They are built to take abuse, you'll probably need a slightly bigger engine to get the same performance that you'd get with a Wilson.

Don't know what the police are like down your way but up here they don't bother with boat trailers, and there are some decidedly dodging looking home made trailers running about. Have you got a mate with a 4X4 that could get it home for you.

Good luck.
