Gutted!

We just had to put our No.1 cat, Widget, to sleep. He'd been diagnosed with failing kidneys about 2 years ago and at the same time had very bad teeth. The vet didn't think he would survive an op on his teeth but a couple of weeks ago they got so bad we had to take a chance. He survived the op but we couldn't fight the infection back. By this morning he was barely breathing so we had to let him go. He was a little star and everywhere we lived he always made an impact. About 3 weeks ago we found him on our neighbours fence who told us that he regularly sat there and swiped his dog round the head. The dog....an English Bull Terrier!! So if there is an animal heaven, you dogs better watch out......HERE COMES THE WIDGET!!!!!!

It doesn't seem to get any easier taking them to the vets and we've had plenty of practice over the last few years. Sad days but good memories.

Sad news Colin :( It's never an easy decision to make (and every pet-owner knows (s)he may have to make the same decision someday), but sometimes you have to think about the quality of life. You always feel bad taking them for their last visit to the vets, but deep down you know you have made the right choice :(

Will we hear soon about Widget's replacement?

Take care

one of the hardest descisions you ever have to make, i remember the day we had to take our spud, our great dane to the vet for an operation she needed to survive, but was in itself quite dangerous, she never left the recovery room unforunately . but you do what you have to do. it sounds like widget enjoyed his time, and he'll still be swiping dogs noses somewhere else.

We've got 3 other cats so another is unlikely. They seem to know whats going on and are behaving very strange.

Sorry to hear about Widget, Colin :(

As pet lovers, all we can do is offer the best life we can to our animals and, by the sounds of it, you did just that.

Best wishes,

Elton

you will still see widget for a while :) strange we had a cat for 14years after she died we kept catching fleeting glimpses of her (usually in the corner of your eye) for months ,heard her destinctive mew etc, even more strange is we keep getting glimpses of min (billy5000`s cat) who we fostered for a while ,but he`s still alive and living on a farm with billy and family  :)

Sorry for your loss Colin. They all have their own personalities. I've got three cats and two dogs. Not looking forward to their last trips. Do you have any stories about Widget?
