MP's expences and Camerons personal package. Neither of these things have anything do do with the rights or wrongs of capping benefits.

The salaries of many working people (myself included) have risen at below inflation rates every single year for over a decade. Strictly speaking, this has nothing to do with the benefits debate either but a comparison with what is happening to incomes in other sectors of society is at least informative.

What really matters is what the country can afford, and if we can't aford the status quo, how do we deal with that ?

no, both you and big cod are way off topic, start another if you feel the need, can you answer my question, what would the labour party do regarding the massive industry of benifit payments, nothing?

btw, your banking topic, should you feel the need, do include the fsa.Set up by............

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Our tax systems and benefits systems are ridiculously complex and bureaucratic and costs £millions to administer. They could easily be made far simpler and cheaper to run, but then thousands of civil servants would be out of work. I have been saying for years we live in a benefit ridden society and finally it is being recognised. However it is not being addressed with much common sense. Look at child benefit capping; it is ridiculous that it based on the income of one parent, not both. And what about the child tax credits, I bet they cost twice as much to administer then they return, yet all they had to do was alter your tax code and hey presto you get the credit..

Don't get me wrong, there will always be people in society who need need benefits and they should get them, but we need to be much better at ensuring they go to the right people and those that can work. etc are incentivised to do so.

All,

We're no better. I sometimes think Herman Cain (failed Presidental candidate) had it right. 9 - 9 - 9.

The plan, called for a 9% income tax, 9% national sales tax and 9% corporate income tax, would create tax equality and stabilize federal finances.

Distribution would be so much easier to follow.

Phone

Just my thoughts. It doesn't seem to matter if politicians are left or if they are right. They demand sacrifice from 10% their unpopular constituencies - one from the poor and the other from the rich. No one likes the very rich but then no one likes the very poor either. Eventually someone with guts will have to look to the 80% in the middle - like me.

Believe me, there ain't nobody running around looking for ways to protect or create civil service jobs.

As to the tax system, you're right, it's ripe for reform and when it is done, the first people to be in for a shock will be those high earners bemoning the child benefit reforms and teling everyone how much tax they pay. Yes, they pay a higher rate of income tax but at about the same salary point that brings them into higher rate income tax, their national insurance contributions suddenly plummet to 2.5%. The upshot is that the proportion of their gross salary that they take home doesn't change nearly as much as they might have people believe.

Yes, reform the tax system, combine income tax and I, get rid of tax cedits and then start cleaning up the rest of the system.

BTW, The main Social Security changes are to come. PIP relpaces DLA on 08.04.12 and Universal Credit goes live in October replacing a whole slew of current benefits.
