And posts like this jus show that when it comes to agriculture, you just don't have a clue, not one scoobey doo. Unilateraly cutting off subsidies when America, Canada, Mexico are subsidising theirs would be plain crazy. Do you want to pay full market price for your food? do want to be paying 4 or 5 quid for a loaf of bread, do you want to go back to the days when a chicken cost £14 in todays money? Most of the CAP doesn't go to "farmers" it goes to big producers like RHM, Tate and Lyle. Royal Estates get £millions, Prince Charles' Duchy of Cornwall gets millions.

Did you know that the Thatcher government refused money from the Community Development Fund that would have gone into infrastructure, but Maggie didn't want to see big billboards at the side of the road saying "This Development is Funded or Partially Funded by the EU Community Development Fund" but if you won't put up the information you don't get the money. In relevance to Corys still unanswered question about what would the response of car makers like Nissan be to an EU exit.........Their reaction would probably be the same as that of Ford, BMW and the city of London financial centre as shown in the link above.

So we come out of europe barry the cpf is no more then what the big boys in our fishing industry are waiting in the wings as we speak they now say its zero discards its rubbish over fishing by own boats through the 80ss and 90ss and into the the millenium did a lot of damage i saw it first hand 1000ss up 1000ss of boxes of fish what didnt exist on paper being landed it could end a free for all for the commercial sector, my buisness will be finished along with a lot of other people doing the same job will cease in a couple of years the boats they fish with now are far more efficient and better at catching fish than 20 years ago lets hope if we come out of europe defra dont make a massive mistake and give a free for all go and catch what you like it would be devastating to the fish stocks round our shores.

I don't it was more of the same. The science was yet again ignored. The very first time that cfas count on the cod stocks rose above the red line mimimun safe biomass was this year. And benyon considered that all is well and go get 'em. The cfp has been mismanaged for thirty years, by staying in do you think they will eventually get it right. Management for managements sake with little thought of the stock as usual. These managers use the word precuasionary, yet they don't know what it means. Fishing looks very healthy in the norway sector this year, so the scottish fleet looks like it's going to be a bumper year with average increases of 15% across the board? Someone's doing it right and it ain't the e u. no discard over there.

Barry its got long long way to go before stocks get back to the 90ss level never mind the 80ss there is lot of conning going on they now say we have 0.1 discards now but i bet they wont have dont the trails when the herring spawn was down its carnage for discards when spawn is on the ground the idea of the 0.1 discard is totally aimed at getting more quota less discards more quota one of the boats from here which works the norwegian sector was told to go and catch as much cod as you can in the next 12 months that means they have to lease more quota but its all to build up a bigger track record for what they have caught over the year so when the new round of quotas are dished out they get given more because of what they caught over the last year had increased its all polotics barry .

The boats doing the trials were probably working areas where there were very few juvenile fish.

 

I know this is rubbish and so does anybody in the industry if truth be known.

It is pretty clear Barry that you have no answer to the overwhelming number of business, and indeed governments (including that of the biggest economy in the world) that are saying the opposite.The link even points out that the financial centre of London is against exit.......
